President of Inter Milan from 2016 to 2024, Zhang Jindong is in a more than precarious situation. According to the Daily Newsthe Nanjing Central Court has accepted the request to reorganize bankruptcy concerning its business, the Suning Holdings Group, which could lead to the disappearance of the three sections of the holding company. With more than 10 billion euros spent in the wind between 2010 and 2020, the investment group is now in the red.
As a reminder, the US investment fund Oaktree had become a majority shareholder of the club in 2024 following the non-reimbursement of the debt contracted by Suning three years earlier. “This follows the non-reimbursement of the three-year loan granted by Oaktree to the Holdings of Inter, which expired on May 21, 2024 with a total balance of around 395 million euros”he said a year ago now. Debts that have since been towed by the new shareholder of the club, now second in Serie A and among the main competitors to a victory in the Champions League.
