io.net, the decentralized GPU infrastructure giant, has announced a strategic partnership with cloud gaming network YOM. The collaboration aims to broaden access to high-quality gaming experiences by leveraging io.net's extensive network of globally distributed GPUs. This will provide YOM with advanced pixel streaming capabilities, reinforcing its status as a leader in cloud gaming.

By integrating io.net's decentralized GPU resources, YOM plans to deliver seamless, low-latency AAA gaming experiences to players worldwide. This will significantly reduce costs compared to relying on traditional centralized server solutions. The partnership should prove particularly beneficial in allowing YOM to support regions that lack established nodes. It will also support YOM’s efforts to manage overflow during peak traffic periods, ensuring consistent, high-quality gaming experiences regardless of player location.

Making Gaming Work for Everyone

The cloud gaming market has experienced significant growth in recent years, driven by advancements in technology and increasing consumer demand for accessible gaming experiences. In 2022, cloud gaming was valued at over $1B and is projected to experience a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 46% from to 2030, reaching an estimated $21B.

YOM believes the market for decentralized cloud gaming will follow a similar trajectory of that for decentralized AI, making its partnership with io.net an obvious one that should benefit both parties. While the infrastructure improvements YOM will gain are evident, io.net in turn will be able to demonstrate another use case for its GPU DePIN while further raising its profile.

Tausif Ahmed, VP of Business Development at io.net, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are extremely proud to partner with YOM, a cutting-edge project that shares our passion for decentralization – and in particular DePIN. By combining our decentralized GPU infrastructure with YOM’s pioneering cloud gaming infrastructure, we are giving players access to a rich and accessible ecosystem that benefits them in countless ways.”

The Case for Decentralized Cloud Gaming

Decentralized cloud gaming infrastructure offers a number of advantages over traditional centralized systems, particularly in terms of operational efficiency. By distributing computing resources closer to end-users, decentralized networks minimize data travel distances, resulting in lower latency and smoother gameplay. This proximity ensures that players experience minimal delays, which is crucial for real-time gaming.

YOM has been instrumental in driving adoption of decentralized gaming infrastructure, leveraging it to dynamically allocate resources based on demand and efficiently handling fluctuations in user activity. This allows for seamless scaling, accommodating a growing player base without compromising performance. Its partnership with io.net will support this goal, giving it access to all the GPU computation it requires.

As YOM CEO Andrew Pringle puts it: “With the gaming market recognized as the biggest consumer entertainment sector by usage and revenue, the ability to quickly match GPU demand in various regions is vital to ensuring optimal UX. Our vision of making AAA gaming experiences accessible to everyone, everywhere, at near-zero prices is coming into clearer focus.”
