Manchester United were given a boost before today’s 2-1 win over Luton Town with the news that Luke Shaw had passed fit to start the game. Sadly, much like last weekend, the left-back failed to make it as far as the second half after pulling up with a knock.
The Reds continued their unbeaten run in 2024 with a nervy victory at Kenilworth Road thanks to a first-half brace from Rasmus Hojlund, who took his Premier League tally to seven for the season.
Although the overall performance was far from pretty, it was another league win that should help Erik ten Hag’s side gain momentum in the race for top four.
The manager will hope that he won’t be without Shaw for a long period of time. The left-back has already missed a lot of football this season and he left the stadium limping heavily after being replaced by Victor Lindelof before the interval.
Shaw has only featured 14 times so far this season, which is worrying for a key player that we miss when absent.
Ten Hag was asked for an update on Shaw’s fitness after the match, but the manager explained that it is too early to give a diagnosis on the injury.
“I can’t tell,” Ten Hag told BBC Radio Five Live, as quoted by ManUtd.com.
“We have to wait minimum until tomorrow to see what’s going on.
“Clear, when you come off, it doesn’t look great.”
United are back in action against Fulham next weekend and we should have a further update on Shaw’s injury in the coming days.
Hopefully it’s nothing serious.
