Jonny Evans reveals how the Manchester United squad have reacted to the rumours that Erik ten Hag could be sacked during the international break.

A string of poor results have led to more questions being asked of Ten Hag. If there wasn’t enough questions after last season, there’s certainly double that now as we go into the October international break.

United managed to secure a 0-0 draw against an in-form Aston Villa on Sunday.

Under mounting pressure to keep his job, Ten Hag opted for his side to play with a cautious, compact approach to ensure they kept a clean sheet after a side that beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe watched on from the stands.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Evans revealed that all the talk surrounding Ten Hag’s future has been affecting the squad.

“It does affect the players. It’s on our minds too,” Evans told BBC Match of the Day, as per UtdDistrict.

“I think the more experience I’ve got in my career I’ve made sure I do everything you I to be ready and give everything I can to the team.”

This proves how media narratives have an impact on players and how careful we need to be as a media outlet. At Stretty News, though, the priority has always been to get behind the team. We’ll continue to do that.

Evans added: “That was the important thing to show the spirit in the team. Everyone competed as much as they could. That’s a pleasing thing to see.

“You never have everyone available throughout the season. It’s important everyone coming in is ready to go when they’re ready.”
