Yesterday, Italian justice imposed a heavy four-year suspension on Paul Pogba. The Frenchman is accused of violating two articles of the Italian anti-doping code. And this morning, after the shock wave caused by this announcement, Giuseppe Capua, the president of the Anti-Doping Commission of the Italian Federation, confided that this news was far from rejoicing him.

“I feel great human pain, I am sure the boy will suffer a lot. Finding a positive athlete and witnessing their conviction, after all, is never a victory. Not even for the fight against doping, a complex system that encompasses the subject in 360 degrees: from preventive training to the courtroom. The data shows that the phenomenon of doping in Italian sport is in clear decline and that the last few years have been years of relative calm, especially in Serie A: before Pogba, there was the Palomino affair in July 2022, which was acquitted by the anti-doping court and by the CAS”he confided to Corriere dello Sport.
