Gabriele Gravina’s third mandate as head of the FIGC. The outgoing president is the only candidate for the presidency of the Football Association for the next four-year term over the period 2025-2028. Indeed, the deadline for submitting applications expired on December 25 and no further applications were formalized before Christmas Day. The elective assembly of the Football Federation is scheduled for February 3 in Rome and on the agenda, in addition to the election of the federal president, there is also that of the component advisors. For the three elected councilors of Serie A (the fourth is by right the president of the Italian League, namely Ezio Simonelli, newly elected), the candidates will be Giuseppe Marotta, Paolo Scaroni, Adriano Galliani.

However, there is not that of Claudio Lotito, president of Lazio and outgoing advisor, senator of Forza Italia. Also in the running are Francesco Calvo, Stefano Campoccia, Carlo Catte, Claudio Fenucci, Alessandro Ferrari, Luca Martines, Luca Percassi, Saverio Sticchi Damiani and Francesco Terrazzani. Despite growing rumors surrounding Alessandro Del Piero, the former Juventus legend did not receive the necessary internal support to be able to submit his candidacy. The FIGC will therefore choose continuity. Between the sale of TV rights abroad, the compromised organization of Euro 2032 with Turkey, the standoff with the Association of Italian Referees (AIA), the crisis of the national selection in the World Cup, the dilapidated stadiums in the four corners of the country, the low use of young Italian players or even the construction of the major reform of the championships, Gabriele Gravina will have his work cut out for him to revolutionize Calcio.
