Jack Black opened up about the return of Tenacious D after the band abruptly canceled their tour amid backlash.
The band cut their tour short after guitarist Kyle Gass said, “Don’t miss Trump next time,” after the assassination attempt on the Republican presidential candidate.
Black is now addressing if the band will get back together after their break.
“I love Tenacious D… We had to take a break, but I love the D. Everybody takes a break sometimes,” the Nacho Libre star told Entertainment Tonight. “We’ll be back.”
Amid the backlash, Gass apologized for his remarks in a since-deleted post on Instagram.
“The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake,” Gass said at the time. “I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement. I profoundly apologize to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused.”
Gass was dropped from his talent agency amid the fallout of his comments. Black said that he was “blindsided” by what Gass said on stage during a performance in Sydney, Australia.
“I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form,” Black said. “After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”
