Chelsea are reportedly interested in Manchester City winger Jack Grealish as they prepare to spend big this summer.

The Blues have spent more than €1 billion on recruitment since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took control of the club in 2022 and have identified Grealish as a potential target for the summer, according to Simon Phillips. The journalist close to Chelsea spoke on his Substack page: “Another winger who I’m told has been the subject of internal discussions at Chelsea recently is Manchester City’s Jack Grealish. »

The 28-year-old has been linked with a return to his former club, Aston Villa, in recent weeks, and due to his secondary role at City, there is a belief in the industry that he will be available for a transfer this summer and also, he is likely to be open to a move to another club where he will have a bigger role. Chelsea have a good relationship with City when it comes to transfers and have of course signed Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer in recent years, both at reasonable prices. »

Jack Grealish to Chelsea?

Although a move to Stamford Bridge seems highly unlikely, Grealish would bring experience to Chelsea’s young side, something Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to do this summer. He has only scored three goals and three assists in 35 appearances since the start of the season, but Grealish plays a regimental role under Pep Guardiola and a move to Chelsea could allow him to regain the creative freedom in which he shone at Aston Villa.

A return to Villa Park has also been mooted as a possibility for the England international, whose future at Man City is uncertain. Although he has been reinstated into the starting XI in recent weeks, numerous reports have indicated that Grealish could leave the Etihad Stadium at the end of the 2023-24 season.
