Jade Cargill has many people looking out for her as she continues to climb the ladder of success in her pro wrestling career.
WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard spoke with Cargill, currently one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, about learning from veterans. In addition to namedropping her “Big 3” teammates, Cargill said she maintained relationships with Cody Rhodes and CM Punk, as she spent time with both in AEW.
“Cody Rhodes is one of the people I go to for advice all the time. And honestly, he’s very sound in his advice and I take it to heart,” Cargill said. “Obviously we have the CM Punk history… from previous history that we have. I go to him to lean on him.”
Jade Cargill on Paul Heyman
She also praised Paul Heyman, noting she was eager to meet him when she got to WWE.
“Oh my gosh! Paul Heyman. I hit him up all the times of the night. He’s like, ‘It’s fine. It’s fine.’ And I know I probably annoy him. But thank you, Paul Heyman, I appreciate it. That’s one of the people I go to and I ask for advice in this industry. Because he survived generations. He’s — it’s Paul Heyman we are talking about!
“I was so eager when I got here I was like, ‘Listen, there are two people I want to meet when I come here.’ And that was the one person I was like, ‘Please.’ That was the one of two and I was like, ‘Please, I have to meet you, I have to take a picture with you,’” Cargill explained. “Naomi, that’s one of the people that I go for advice as well. And Bianca, she’s been at the top of the echelon. I mean, going to her and having to work with her. She and I have all kinds of advice for one another and just sharing our experiences.”
Not wanting to leave him out, Cargill also praised AEW star Ricky Starks for being there for her.
“Ricky Starks. He’s one of the people I go to for sound advice too,” Cargill added. “He’s probably the little guy on my shoulder always giving me advice. And he probably gets annoyed with me. But his help is very appreciated.”
Jade Cargill on the Big Three
Jade Cargill made her WWE in-ring debut at the 2024 Royal Rumble. Shortly after that, she started teaming with Naomi and Bianca Belair, collectively known as the “Big Three.” They teamed up for a win over Damage CTRL at WrestleMania 40, and Cargill reflected on how they came together under one promotion.
“I knew Naomi before I even got here. So, that was one of the people — before I even got into the industry, [she] was one of the people that I looked up to. Now that I am working with her, I was like, ‘Wow! Like, this is crazy. Who would have ever thought?’
And then Bianca obviously, [with me] being at [AEW] seeing that she’s another woman, another Black woman out there killing it and taking names. Obviously, I’m going to see her. So, me working with her was like, ‘Oh wow! I get this opportunity. I get this chance.’”
