Borussia Dortmund loanee Jadon Sancho is a doubt for Sunday’s clash with Eintracht Frankfurt due to a hamstring injury, coach Edin Terzic confirmed on Friday.
After an underwhelming start on his Dortmund return, the out-of-favour Manchester United winger has scored in his past two games. It may be a stretch to say Sancho is suddenly in good form, though he is showing signs that he still has an eye for goal.
It remains to be seen whether that is enough to persuade Dortmund to sign him in the summer.
Sancho scored his first goal since May 2023 in Saturday’s 2-1 victory at Werder Bremen and he found the back of the net against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Wednesday night to help book Dortmund’s place in the last eight of the competition.
The England international was substituted with 15 minutes remaining during the week.
Speaking about the matter to reporters, Dortmund manager Terzic said (via France 24): “On Thursday we did some tests and thank god it’s nothing big.”
Terzic went on to reveal that Sancho would train individually “and then we’ll see if he’s ready for Sunday.”
He added: “Even if he’s missing (on Sunday), it won’t be for long.”
There is very little players can do about niggles, but the last thing Sancho needs is a long lay-off due to injury after missing the start of the season. That was his own doing, too – and not something that can be blamed on an injury.
Dortmund are currently fourth in the Bundesliga.
