Borussia Dortmund beat Freiburg 3-0 in another Bundesliga match delayed by protests against an investment proposal by the German Football Association. Tennis balls and chocolate gold coins were thrown on to the pitch and had a greater impact than Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho – after causing a 10-minute delay after 36 minutes.

Sancho, who join Dortmund on loan for the remainder of the season in January, came on as an 88th-minute substitute after returning from a minor injury and had a shot saved by Noah Atubolu before heading the rebound wide.

The English winger is still looking for his first goal since returning to the club on loan from United. He had another chance to clinch it but couldn’t direct his volley goalbound.

Sancho replaced Marco Reus just after Dortmund’s third goal and his perfect chance to score came across three minutes later. He has recorded two assists in his first three appearances for the Bundesliga club.

As a result of Dortmund’s recent win, Edin Terzic’s side are unbeaten in eight competitive matches since a 3-2 home loss to RB Leipzig in December.
