The 23-year-old rejoins the German giants on a six-month loan deal.

The England international was considered one of the best forwards in the world when he joined United in the summer of 2021 for £73million.

But his time at Old Trafford has been plagued by inconsistent form and fitness issues, resulting in just 12 goals and six assists in 82 appearances.

Moreover, the 23-year-old has been exiled from the first-team since August after he publicly hit back at Erik ten Hag after the manager criticised the player’s lack of effort, with Sancho claiming he had been made a ‘scapegoat’.

With the winger refusing to apologise for his comments, Ten Hag has banished him to the club’s academy facilities and though the Red Devils had hoped to offload him permanently in January, there have been few concrete offers.

Dortmund were keen to bring him back to the Westfalenstadion on a short-term deal however, and after quick negotiations a deal was struck.

The Bundesliga side will reportedly pay a small loan fee to take Sancho back for the rest of the season, but will only pay around a third of his £300,000-a-week wages, with United continuing to fork out the rest.

Sancho joined Dortmund from Manchester City in 2017 and was a huge success in Germany, scoring 50 goals and making 64 assists in 137 appearances.
