Jakub Kiwior’s agent has played down speculation linking the defender with a January move and insists his client remains fully focussed on Arsenal.

The 23-year-old joined Arsenal from Serie B outfit Spezia Calcio 12 months ago and has gone on to make 24 appearances in all competitions for the north London giants, providing cover for first-choice centre-backs William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.

However, reports this month have indicated Kiwior could be set for a return to Italy, with AC Milan placing the Poland international on their shortlist of defensive targets alongside Barcelona’s Clement Lenglet.

The Rossoneri are battling a defensive injury crisis at the midway stage of the campaign, with Malick Thiaw, Pierre Kalulu and Fiyako Tomori all unavailable, and are exploring options to strengthen at the back before the January transfer deadline.

But it appears the Serie A giants will have to put their interest in Kiwior on hold for the time being after the Pole’s agent confirmed Arsenal had given no indication that they plan to move his client on elsewhere.

‘Kuba is an Arsenal player,’ Pawel Zimonczyk told Polish outlet Kanal Sportowy.

‘There are no signs that they want to get rid of him and I don’t think anything will happen in the winter window.’

It’s understood Arsenal have been exploring a move for a proven goalscorer this month, with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah managing a combined total of just eight goals in the Premier League this term.

Brentford’s Ivan Toney, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Karim Benzema – looking for an escape route out of Al-Ittihad – have all been linked, but the Gunners are fast running out of time to get a deal for centre-forward over the line.

Reports this week indicate the club are also weighing up whether to sign a versatile defender before next Wednesday’s transfer deadline, with Jurrien Timber still sidelined and Takehiro Tomiyasu away on international duty at the Asian Cup.

Speaking to the media ahead of Arsenal’s 5-0 defeat of Crystal Palace, Mikel Arteta insisted his squad were feeling ‘fully recharged’ and ready to ‘attack’ the second half of the campaign despite a lack of progress in the January window.

‘We are recharged, super motivated,’ the Arsenal head coach told reporters.

We want to attack the second half of the season, we have a lot of ambitions and understand that the team is capable of big things.

‘We feel fully recharged. The break gave us the opportunity to look at things with perspective. We take positives from the first six months despite recent results.’
