Moana 2

In conversation with Screen Rant, Moana 2 co-director David Derrick, Jr. confirmed Maui is more “vulnerable” around Moana in the new sequel.

Maui’s never really cared about people before, and he cares about Moana, and that gives Maui a vulnerability. The thing I love is the growth in their relationship. There’s a moment where Maui needs to give Moana a pep talk, and it’s in an incredible song. “Can I Get A Chee Hoo?” And it’s really Maui returning the favor that Moana gave him in the first movie.

Auli’i Cravalho echoed his statements, adding:

I feel like in the first film, Moana and Maui’s relationship was a little more hierarchical because Maui is a demigod. But this time around, it feels like they’re peers. They respect each other. Moana sees Maui still as a mentor, but Maui sees Moana as a Tautai, a master navigator who can hold her own.

In the first film, Moana gets Maui out of a rut. And this film, it’s turned on its head. Their friendship is really strong.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Variety reports Courtney B. Vance will replace the late Lance Reddick as Zeus in the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Peacemaker

During a recent interview with Screen Rant, Steve Agee revealed he’s “almost done” with filming on the second season of Peacemaker.

I don’t know what’s going on beyond Creature Commandos in season 2 of Peacemaker – I’m in Savannah, Georgia, right now shooting season 2. We’re almost done, I should be done on Monday, and that’s the end of the season. So beyond that, I don’t know what’s in store for Economos. There’s a lot I wish I could tell you, [laughs] but you’ll have to tune into the shows!

It’s definitely a more epic storyline. More characters are involved this time, and it’s a massive story in a massive world. I think anyone who likes season 1 is going to love season 2.

Waller

Agee also provided Screen Rant with an update on James Gunn’s planned Amanda Waller TV series.

I think they’re still doing scripts, so there’s no set time yet, and James won’t start something until he’s absolutely happy with the scripts and they’re they’re ready to go. So once they’re ready, I’m sure he’ll announce a start time – as an actor who loves to work, it can’t happen soon enough, though, for me!

Wonder Woman: Paradise Lost

Relatedly, James Gunn confirmed Wonder Woman: Paradise Lost is still in “very active development” in response to a fan on Threads.
