Coming off his Emmy nomination for Jury Duty, James Marsden has signed off as a lead opposite Sterling K. Brown in Dan Fogelman’s upcoming Hulu series. Also cast as series regulars in the untitled project are Emmy winner Julianne Nicholson and Sarah Shahi.
The premise of the drama from the This Is Us creator has been kept a secret but basic information about the characters Marsden, Nicholson and Shahi are playing provides a glimpse into the world it is set in.
Marsden will play the President. Nicholson’s character is a political force/power player behind the scenes, while Shahi plays a therapist to those in power with secrets of her own.
The series, produced by 20th Television, is executive produced by Fogelman, Brown, Jess Rosenthal, John Hoberg, John Requa, Glenn Ficarra and Steve Beers.
In addition to Freevee’s breakout hit comedy series Jury Duty, Marsden’s recent credits include feature Knox Goes Away, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, the Sonic movie franchise and Starz’s Party Down revival. This marks his return to Netflix where he starred in Dead To Me. Marsden is repped by CAA and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
Nicholson, an Emmy winner for Mare of Easttown, was most recently seen in Dream Scenario alongside Nicolas Cage. Coming up is Janet Planet, written and directed by Annie Baker. Nicholson has also wrapped production on The Amateur with Rami Malek. Additionally, she is executive producing and will star in the limited series Separation Anxiety based on the best-selling book by Laura Zigman. Nicholson is repped by UTA, Untitled Entertainment and B-Side Management
Shahi also is returning to Netflix where she recently starred in Sex/Life. She also was recently seen in the Prime Video film Red, White & Royal Blue. Shahi is repped by Independent Artists Group, Untitled Entertainment and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis.
