Manchester United youngster James Scanlon has signed his first professional contract at Manchester United.

It’s a fantastic milestone in the 17-year-old’s career following a terrific campaign with the academy.

Scanlon joined United’s established academy in 2023 from Derby County’s youth system.

Despite being such a young age, Scanlon has a bright future in the game and has already made his name as a senior Gibraltar international.

The versatile forward featured in Adam Lawrence’s successful U18s side that claimed a stunning treble in 2023/24, contributing an impressive eight goals and three assists in 12 appearances.

On top of that, Scanlon has made three appearances for the U21s.

Scanlon took to Instagram to announce his first professional contract with United.

Next season it will be about stepping up again and making the grade at U21 level before then maybe challenging himself with the first-team.

The talented youngster has played as a central midfielder and on both flanks this season. In his recent outing against Chelsea, Scanlon played on the flank.

Scanlon joins a list of talented youngsters to have contracts confirmed by United such as Harry Amass, Jack and Tyler Fletcher and Shea Lacey.

Hopefully we can hear more about some of these lads on pre-season tour this summer.
