Jamie Lee Curtis appears to be the latest Hollywood star to quit Elon Musk’s social media platform X.
The Bear and Freaky Friday actress has posted an image of her X handle on rival social media platform showing that her account had been deactivated.
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. Courage to change the things I can. And the wisdom to know the difference,” she wrote in the post, in reference to the oft-cited Serenity Poem, attributed to 20th century theologian Reinhold Niebuhr.
The move comes just hours after Donald Trump revealed he had asked Musk to lead his new Department of Government Efficiency, which will be tasked with slashing government bureaucracy and regulations.
Earlier in the day, the UK’s Guardian newspaper announced it would no longer post content on X, calling the social media platform “toxic” for the prevalence of conspiracy theories and for its owner’s ability to use it to “shape political discourse.”
Other media and entertainment orgs and personalities announcing their departure from X in recent days have included the Berlin Film Festival, which said last week it would be quitting the platform on December 31, 2024.
