talkSPORT's Jamie O'Hara has revealed his surprise at Eric Dier's move to Bayern Munich and one Tottenham fan is 'relieved' to see him go.

Dier, whose contract at Spurs expires in the summer, has signed for the Bundesliga champions on loan until the end of the season.

The move sees him reunite with Harry Kane, who joined Bayern in the summer and has since scored an incredible 25 goals.

Dier signed for Spurs in 2014 and has made 365 appearances for them, but he could be set to leave the club permanently this year.

Many will have seen the move come as a shock, with O'Hara one of them as he analysed the centre-back's latest career move.

"Fair play to him, been a great servant to the football club," he said on the Sports Bar. "What a move by the way! I can understand it if it's Harry Kane going for £100million to one of the best clubs in the world, one of the best clubs ever.

"Eric Dier... I mean fair play to him, he's a good player and he's had a decent career at Spurs, he did alright. But he's completely out of sorts now, miles off it in terms of where Spurs want to be and him playing centre-half.

"He's gone to a better club, Bayern Munich. I mean you've got Real Madrid, you've got Barcelona, you've got Man United, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and he's at one of them, unbelievable!

"Look, fair play to him, that is a move that you'd never see happening, that is up there with something where you go, 'How's that happened?'"

Despite spending nearly a decade in north London, Spurs fan Marco admitted the club 'had to get rid of him' amid his tendency to make mistakes in defence.

The Tottenham supporter told talkSPORT: "Eric Dier, I'm sick of hearing this servant thing, as if he's like been on minimum wage working in a factory or something. He's been at Tottenham stealing a wage for most of the years he's been here, he's had two good seasons.

"The two good seasons he had were 2015/16, playing in midfield with [Mousa] Dembele who absolutely carried him but fair enough, he did well.

Eric Dier arrives in Germany to complete Bayern Munich transfer and reunite with former Tottenham teammate Harry Kane

"And [Antonio] Conte's first full season where he sat in the middle of a back three and he didn't have to do much, and he was protected by two defensive midfielders and [Cristian] Romero and [Ben] Davies each side.

"I think he's a good guy, seems a nice guy but he made so many mistakes, especially in big games over the years that I'm so relieved and happy that he's finally left. I don't wish him anything bad but we had to get rid of him."

When asked if Dier has a mistake in him, he added: "Oh 100 per cent. Here's the thing, he's not a bad player, he is a good player, if you watched him on a good day you'd think, 'Wow he can pass, he's strong, he can defend.'

"But you will watch him over a season and he'll make so many mistakes and you think, 'How's he even in the Premier League?' So when you've got a player like that and you're trying to challenge for Champions League qualification and stuff like that, it's not viable."
