Jane Lynch Praises Lea Michele's 'Funny Girl' Performance, Wishes They Shared the Stage Together

Jane Lynch is gushing over her former Glee co-star!

The actress recently praised Lea Michele‘s performance as Fanny Brice in the Broadway revival of Funny Girl.

If you forgot, Jane originated the role of Fanny’s mom Mrs Brice in the revival, performing alongside Beanie Feldstein and Julie Benko. Shortly after Jane‘s exit, Lea stepped into her dream role of Fanny.

Lea Michele, ladies and gentlemen. She basically had her dream come true — and the dream for the show come true — for Funny Girl,” Jane told People. “And she just really killed it, knocked it out of the park.”

“We almost overlapped,” she added, admitting, “There’s a part of me now going, ‘You should have stayed. You should have stayed.’”

If you recall, Lea‘s Glee character Rachel Berry also wanted to star as Fanny Brice, and even had it come true in later seasons.

“It came true,” Jane shared. “She sang the hell out of that show and acted the hell out of it.”

Jane left the production of Funny Girl early – she was supposed to star until September 5th, but moved her exit date up nearly a month earlier.

While many speculated it was to avoid overlapping with Lea, who actually debuted on September 6th, Jane revealed that she already had a pre-planned vacation and she decided to just end her run before the vacation. Otherwise, she would’ve only had a handful of shows to perform upon returning.

Jane also addressed the possibility of reprising her Glee character, Sue Sylvester.

You can catch Jane in the upcoming fourth season of Only Murders in the Building, where her character becomes the victim of the latest murder. Check out the trailer!
