Vince McMahon made the news after facing allegations of sexual trafficking and misconduct from a former WWE employee, Janel Grant. Now, Grant’s attorney believes more people will want to speak out on WWE’s unsafe environment as well.
The lawsuit doesn’t just implicate Vince McMahon; it also targets the company and a former executive. All are accused of being involved in a scandalous exchange of messages. Janel Grant, a former employee at WWE’s headquarters and the plaintiff alleges that the leaked texts reveal a deeply troubling pattern of behavior during McMahon’s tenure as Chief Executive.
Vince McMahon was compelled to resign from his position in the company last year amidst the hush money scandal. Two years ago, reports surfaced about McMahon paying over $12 million over a 16-year period to four women to suppress allegations of sexual misconduct and infidelity.
WWE was conducting an investigation into a confidential $3 million settlement intended for an employee with whom McMahon allegedly had an affair. In August 2023, McMahon was subpoenaed by federal agents in connection to the payments.
While speaking with NewsNation, Janel Grant’s lawyer Ann Callis shared her perspective on the Vince McMahon sex trafficking lawsuit. Callis stated that McMahon’s resignation from TKO/WWE is deemed “not enough.” She also mentioned that her office has received numerous individuals willing to come forward to attest to a culture of corruption and potential victims.
”My office and my inbox have had a barrage of people wanting to come forward to attest about this culture of corruption and also possible victims. We are just beginning now to wade through all this, but we’re frankly overwhelmed.”
Callis expressed being overwhelmed by the influx of information but emphasized Grant’s desire for justice to change the culture within WWE. Grant hopes that by speaking out first, others will feel empowered to come forward and share their experiences.
”(Grant) wants justice because she wants to change the culture that is going on in the WWE. She wants to help other victims. She thinks by speaking out and coming forward first, that others will feel emboldened and encouraged to come forth.”
Eric Bischoff also believes Vince McMahon’s trafficking allegations are pure evil. Another lawyer also believes the trafficking lawsuit will not come to trial. We’ll have to see if more people will speak out against Vince McMahon in the future.
