The young Newcastle United stars travelled to take on their Manchester United counterparts.
Saturday’s match played at Carrington, as the Under 18 sides clashed.
Kyle Fitzgerald made his Newcastle United debut after signing for an undisclosed fee from Galway United in January.
The 18 year old coming on as a second half sub with 20 minutes to go on Saturday.
However, it was another United player who was man of the match as NUFC picked up a great result against Man U.
The Man U youngsters had only dropped points in two previous league matches this season.
However, 16 year old United keeper Will Anderson was in superb form, keeping an excellent clean sheet to ensure Newcastle United picked up a point from a goalless draw.
Anderson making some very good saves, though saving the best for last, keeping out a close in header when the Man U player looked sure to score.
For United, Kacey Wooster put one effort just wide.
Whilst 15 year old Michael Mills (signed from Port Vale last summer) also went close and had a shot saved by the Man U goalkeeper.
Overall though a great result against the odds and clear signs of promise and progress as Newcastle United now are committed to invest in the potential stars of the future.
Great to see as well a number of United players so competitive at this level, despite a significant age difference to many of their opponents, with a number of 15 and 16 year olds up against a number of players who are a couple of years older.
Final score:
Manchester United Under 18s 0 Newcastle United Under 18s 0
That result leaves the Under 18s (North) table looking like this:
Newcastle United Under 18s:
Will Anderson, Henry Johnson, Luke Craggs, Logan Watts, Guy Bloomer, Jude Cogdon, Sam Alabi (Aaron Epia 86), Fraser Harper, Michael Mills (Kyle Fitzgerald 70), Kacey Wooster (Mohamed Waddani 69), Joe Brayson (Jake Durrant 90).
