Manchester United are said to have joined the race for Borussia Monchengladbach’s Ko Itakura.

The 26-year-old centre-back signed for Gladbach from Man City in 2022 and his performances have seemingly led to Premier League interest.

Now, a report from CaughtOffside suggests both Liverpool and Tottenham are ‘keen’ on the Japanese defender but United is also seen as a possible destination.

Gladbach’s asking price is expected to be £13m in the summer, according to the report.

That’s brilliant value in the current market granted Itakura proves to be an upgrade on the defenders we’ve already got in the squad.

With the futures of several defenders unknown at the club, United have been linked with an array of defenders to replace the likes of Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans.

I think the only centre-back at United that can be confident of a place in the team next season should be Lisandro Martinez. The rest aren’t good enough in my opinion and that may seem harsh on Harry Maguire, who has arguably been our best performing defender this term.

Let us know in the comments section if you think United should sign Itakura.
