EXCLUSIVE: Stoked Bros Media, the company co-founded by former NBA player Jarnell Stokes, has ironed out a deal with Germany-based ORWO for the latter to co-produce, co-finance and handle the post-production and international sales for a slate of three Stoked projects over the next six months.

First up on the slate is urban thriller Break the Cycle starring Cuba Gooding Jr. (Jerry Maguire), Vivica A. Fox (Kill Bill: Vol. 1), and Loretta Devine (Waiting to Exhale). The film marks Stokes’ first screenplay and charts the story of two brothers in Memphis, with one aspiring to play in the NBA and the other facing the challenges of street crime. ORWO, founded more than 100 years ago, is a group of film and media companies operating across nine countries. The firms work in manufacturing film stock and cameras, financing, distribution, and physical film studios including Black Hangar Studios in the UK.

The two companies are said to be in active pre-production on the next film in the slate, which is packaging now.

“With a profound commitment to excellence, ORWO is a driving force behind turning filmmakers’ aspirations into vibrant realities, captivating hearts and sparking conversations across the world’s screens,” said Stokes.

“This is just the start of a relationship where I see no boundaries to our partnership. We look forward to a successful collaboration with ORWO and together producing exceptional films with mass appeal and worldwide box office potential.”

ORWO Principal Jake Seal added: “Stoked Bros Media is an up-and-coming company with an incredible gift for storytelling. We’re excited about this partnership and working with them to bring their powerful, engaging stories to audiences around the world.”

Stokes co-founded Stoked Bros Media with his brother, Isiah, in 2022. Aisha Wynn and Franklyn Harris joined shortly after. Stokes was drafted with the 35th overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft by the Utah Jazz and later traded to the Memphis Grizzlies.
