Jax Taylor admits he was ‘so scared’ to leave rehab: ‘I was crying’

Jax Taylor admitted he was “so scared” to leave rehab.

“I didn’t wanna f–king leave. I really, really didn’t,” he told his friend and life coach Scott Kaufman during his comeback “When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany” podcast episode that debuted Friday. “I was so sad leaving. I was crying. I’m like, ‘I don’t wanna go.'”

“I was scared to leave those front doors because [I had] structure every day,” he explained. “I knew what I was doing. I was reading. I was in that world.”

“I was like, ‘God, I know the real world’s gonna hit me like a ton of bricks and I’ve got to go back to filming my show and I know everybody’s mad at me and they’re gonna come at me.'”

Taylor, 45, continued, “And I was just like, ‘I’m so scared. I’m so scared.’ And it’s been happening but I’ve been dealing with it but it’s scary.”

The “Valley” star entered an inpatient treatment center at the end of July as he struggled with his mental health amid his split from Brittany Cartwright. He confirmed he was seeking help “to get better for” his and Cartwright’s 3-year-old son, Cruz.

She announced on their podcast in February that they decided to take time “apart” to focus on themselves. The mother of one, 35, officially filed for divorce on Aug. 27.

Days after the divorce filing, Taylor announced he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder while in rehab.

“It’s been a lot to process and an emotional time for me, however I’ve come home to my son with a new found sense of peace,” he penned on Instagram.

“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared for the future but my focus is just trying to be a better version of myself than I was yesterday.”

He spoke about his diagnosis further on Friday’s podcast episode and said he is “a work in progress.”

“It’s scary to work on yourself. It’s scary to tell people that you have problems,” he frankly stated.

“I now have a little bit better understanding of my mental health struggles. I’ve been put on some serious medication that’s actually been helping me out a lot.”

“In time, I’ll definitely speak more about it openly,” he added, “but right now I kind of just need to deal with this process.”

The “Vanderpump Rules” alum also spoke about his “difficult” divorce from Cartwright for the first time and said he knows it’s the “right decision.”

“I understand why she did [it]. I’ll always love and care for Brittany. She’s the mother of my beautiful son, [Cruz],” he stated.

He also said he hopes they can become “really, really good friends one day.”
