Jeff Stelling named the most improved Premier League player of the 2023/24 season.

Tuesday morning seeing the presenter declaring that his selection must be in the England squad that goes to the European Championships AND ‘maybe even’ should be starting for Gareth Southgate in Germany

Jeff Stelling admitting that he didn’t see much in this player BUT obviously the manager who paid £45m knew what he was doing.

Yes, less than 16 months ago Anthony Gordon arrived at St James’ Park and the rest is, as they say, history.

Jeff Stelling speaking on Talksport – 21 May 2024:

“Anthony Gordon is the most improved player of the season.

“When Anthony Gordon went to Newcastle from Everton, I wondered why?

“I didn’t see the player in him that Eddie Howe saw in him.

“This season he has been phenomenal and must be in that England squad and maybe even start for England.”

Anthony Gordon is heading to Germany for sure and following what Jeff Stelling had to say about him, the winger was this afternoon named in Gareth Southgate’s 33 man preliminary England squad (see below) for the Euros.

That 33 man squad will eventually be cut to the eventual 26 players who will be on the plane to Germany.

Wise words from Jeff Stelling.

Anthony Gordon has been superb this past year after getting up to speed and becoming fit enough to play to the demands of Eddie Howe.

The Newcastle winger has managed a very impressive 21 direct goal involvements (scoring 11 and 10 assists), at an average of one every 161 minutes.
