WWE’s 2024 SummerSlam was an event to remember for many reasons, including a surprise appearance by Jelly Roll, who ended up playing a bigger role than expected. Following the event, Jelly Roll has shared some high praise for Austin Theory, showing his admiration for the young wrestler’s talent and performance.
During the Premium Live Event, Jelly Roll entertained the crowd by performing “America The Beautiful” and his hit song “Liar.” Later in the night, he surprised fans by getting involved in the action, delivering a five-knuckle shuffle and a chokeslam to Austin Theory, making the event even more exciting.
While speaking on the Impaulsive podcast, Jelly Roll gave massive praise to Austin Theory for making him look great during their spot at WWE SummerSlam. He called Theory a “superhero” for how well he handled the moment and made him feel like a rock star. Jelly Roll explained that, even though he’s not part of the wrestling business, Theory assured him throughout the night, telling him, “I got you, dog, trust me.”
Earlier that day, Jelly Roll had spoken with R-Truth and The Miz, predicting that if everything went right, their moment would be one of the top three viral highlights of the night, alongside Roman Reigns’ return and Logan Paul’s flip. His prediction was spot-on, and he was full of appreciation for how everything came together.
“To shoot on it for a second, ’cause I haven’t gotten to do this yet, and this is where I’ve been hoping I’d get to do it. Let’s go. Austin Theory is a superhero. Yeah, he is a hero, is what he is. And I’m not in the business, so I don’t gotta carry kayfabe. Dude made me look like a rock star. I love that dude and will forever, ’cause he told me that whole night, he was like, ‘I got you, dog, trust me.’ And ’cause I sat down with R-Truth and The Miz earlier in the night, and I said, ‘Look, y’all, if we do this right, we should have a top three viral moment.’ I was like, ‘Roman’s return, Logan’s flip, our Five Knuckle Shuffle and choke slam—that should be the three moments.’ Yep, it was the three moments, by the way. Dead on. And I was like, ‘If we pull this…’ and you know something you’ll appreciate about this…”
Austin Theory also revealed recently that original plans didn’t include him taking a chokeslam, but he persuaded Triple H to let Jelly Roll hit a chokeslam on him. WWE was also very pleased with Jelly Roll’s appearance at SummerSlam, and it seems he has some unfinished business in the company. It’s now a matter of waiting to see when the singer will return to WWE television, as he’s proven to be a big attraction for the company.
