Jenna Bush Hager poked fun at Hoda Kotb and her former “Today” show co-host, Kathie Lee Gifford, for their previous tradition of drinking cocktails during the morning talk show.
Bush Hager and Kotb chatted with actress Kaley Cuoco on Monday’s episode of “Today With Hoda and Jenna” when Cuoco brought up how they “know” all about drinking wine when they “wake up.”
“Well, Hoda used to do that with Kathie Lee,” Bush Hanger pointed out.

Kotb laughed and said, “She sure did! This one did!”

“My grandmother actually, she was so herself that sometimes it was scary, you know? She’d say things, and you’d be like, ‘Oh my gosh that kind of hurt my feelings.’ She prepared me for Kathie Lee! Because Kathie Lee’s totally herself, you know?” Bush Hager said.
Kotb and Gifford, 71, co-hosted “Today With Kathie Lee and Hoda” from 2008 to 2019 before Gifford stepped down and Bush Hager replaced her.
The former co-hosts quickly became known for cracking open a bottle of wine on the morning show and sipping on cocktails with guests.

“You wanted my job so badly,” Gifford said while laughing. “Hope you’re happy now. You could smell it on her before.”
The fourth hour of “Today” will be making a change once again after Kotb leaves on Jan. 10. The show will then transition into “Jenna and Friends” where Bush Hager will co-host with several different anchors before she finds the right match.
