Jennifer Lopez requested to drop her estranged husband Ben Affleck’s surname in her divorce filing.

Per court documents obtained by Page Six, the singer asked a judge to change her legal name from Jennifer Lynn Affleck to Jennifer Lynn Lopez after taking the actor’s last name when they eloped in July 2022.

Lopez, 55, previously gushed about becoming Mrs. Affleck, referring to the gesture as “romantic” and “traditional.”

“People are still going to call me Jennifer Lopez. But my legal name will be Mrs. Affleck because we’re joined together,” she told Vogue in November 2022.

“We’re husband and wife. I’m proud of that. I don’t think that’s a problem.”

When asked if she considered having the actor become Mr. Lopez, she responded, “No! It’s not traditional.”

“It doesn’t have any romance to it. It feels like it’s a power move, you know what I mean? I’m very much in control of my own life and destiny and feel empowered as a woman and as a person,” she explained.

“I can understand that people have their feelings about it, and that’s OK, too. But if you want to know how I feel about it, I just feel like it’s romantic. It still carries tradition and romance to me, and maybe I’m just that kind of girl.”

Shortly after tying the knot, the music hitmaker revealed she changed her surname when she referred to herself as “Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck” in her “On the JLo” newsletter in July 2022.

J.Lo previously had plans to change her last name to Affleck when she and the “Gone Girl” star, 52, were first engaged in the early 2000s.

She told “Access Hollywood” in July 2003 that she wanted to become Jennifer Affleck, “obviously,” and her stationery would be printed with her married name.

On Tuesday, Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck after two years of marriage.

The “On the Floor” singer submitted the papers on the second anniversary of their Georgia wedding ceremony. She listed their separation date as April 26.

They reportedly didn’t have a prenup, which may lead to a battle over assets, including their $68 million Beverly Hills mansion that they put up for sale.

Sources previously told Page Six that Lopez felt “humiliated” that her second chance at love with Affleck didn’t work out. Meanwhile, the actor reportedly showed “no interest” in fixing their marriage.
