Jeremie Frimpong fuels Liverpool transfer rumours with what he said to Ryan Gravenberch

Jeremie Frimpong has fuelled speculation over a summer move to Liverpool by greeting Ryan Gravenberch in a scouse accent.

The right-back was greeting his international teammates at the Netherlands camp when Reds midfielder Gravenberch walked into the room.

Greeting him with a smile and a handshake, Frimpong could be heard saying: "Alright la. You alright? You alright, la?"

This was accompanied by a surprisingly good Merseyside accent.

According to Sports Bild, the Bayer Leverkusen star is a target for Liverpool going into the summer transfer window.

After seeing the clips fans are convinced that Frimpong is Liverpool-bound.

One fan wrote: ""He’s our new RB isn’t he?"

Another said: "Frimpong practicing his scouse accent for a summer move to Liverpool."

A third wrote: "Get Frimpong to Liverpool ASAP."

Meanwhile a fourth said: "Jeremie Frimpong. The scouser in our team."

Arne Slot could be targeting a new right-back with Trent Alexander-Arnold approaching the end of his contract at Anfield.

The 24-year-old is regarded as one of the best right-backs in Europe due to his form for Bayer Leverkusen.

Under the leadership of Liverpool legend Xabi Alonso, Frimpong has helped Bayer Leverkusen to both the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal title during his four years with the German club.

Having started his career in Manchester City's academy, he then moved to Celtic where he made his first team breakthrough.

He then moved to Germany for an undisclosed fee in January 2021.

A Dutch international with ten senior caps to his name, he could be tempted by a move to join Slot at Anfield along with international teammates Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo and if he extends his stay, club captain Virgil van Dijk.
