Jérôme Rothen, the huge clash

As usual, Jérôme Rothen was outraged when the subject of the Kings World Cup and the appointment of streamer Aminematue as president of the French delegation was discussed. Attacks to which the first person concerned did not fail to respond.

Major sporting events start coming together from the end of spring. Roland-Garros, the Tour de France, the Euro then the Olympic Games: the next few months promise to be particularly busy. And a new event will further extend this list: Kings World Cup, an amateur football competition organized by the player Gerard Pique.

The competition will pit 32 nations against each other in a seven-a-side football tournament which will be broadcast on Twitch and will take place during the month of May, just before the Euro. Since Monday, it has been known that France will be led by Amine, a well-known streamer. It is an understatement to say that the prospect does not excite Jérôme Rothen.

“Fortunately, not all young people think like Gerard Pique and do not have this vision of football,” he first said about this new competition, adding: “Young people know Mbappé more than Amine. Mbappé, he makes them dream. Amine doesn't make them dream! Perhaps these influencers make young people dream because they earn a lot of money and it's only money that counts. Sorry for being passionate about my sport! I defend him!”

“What did he do in his life? »

And the former midfielder threw to the influencer: “But what did he do in his life? “, seeing himself then replied by his sidekick Jean-Louis Tourre: “He’s a YouTuber. He has 2.5 million followers. » Words that Amine obviously didn't appreciate.

“I don’t have the legitimacy of a footballer to create a project around football. I'm here to entertain. The phrase 'What did he do in his life?' is a bit of a crappy argument, he regretted in a live on Twitch. Jérôme Rothen, I have nothing against him. He's a big mouth. I've followed him since I was little. He has a career. He has had his ups and downs, but when he goes on his show to criticize Neymar, Ronaldo or Messi. Neymar, Ronaldo or Messi are not going to say 'what career did he have compared to me?' »

And the streamer insists: he is only there to entertain. “He is within his rights to create entertainment around football and to talk about people who have careers a thousand times bigger than him. I'm here to entertain. I don't claim to be legitimate in anything. We just want to entertain people and offer different things, he said. I never said that I was legitimate to be a selector or coach with a staff. I only want to entertain, nothing else!”
