The Jigawa State Government has approved the sum of N4,836,546,000.00 for this year’s Ramadan Feeding Programme in the state.

This was announced by the State Commissioner of Information, Mr Sagir Musa while addressing journalists on Monday night on the outcome of the recent council meeting held at the Government House in Dutse.

According to Musa, the programme will be jointly funded by the state government, who will be providing 55 per cent of the total amount and local government administration will be the burden of the 45 per cent balance.

“The council also approved the increase of feeding centres from 609 last year to 630 across the state, with each centre providing three different meals per person,” he further revealed.

The Commissioner added that the programme is aimed at supporting the vulnerable during the Ramadan period.

Accordingly, Musa pointed out that “the council has approved the full package of three different meals per person, which includes Kunu, Kosai, and Jollof rice, with provision for 300 persons per centre.”

The Information Commissioner who also stated that the council approved the revitalisation of 114 ward-level Primary Health Care Centers across the state, stressed that “the project, which is valued at N9,778,830,388.00, aims at improving healthcare services in the state.”

More importantly, Musa pointed out that the project is part of the state government’s commitment to Universal Health Care coverage.

He maintained that “the council has approved the revitalisation of the Primary Health Care Centers under the Immunisation Plus and Malaria Progress for Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT) Programme of the World Bank.”
