Baron Corbin, known for being tough in and out of the ring, had a memorable run on NXT last year. This year, he was moved to Friday Night SmackDown, but he hadn’t appeared on TV for a few months and he was ultimately released last week. That being said, it appears Jim Cornette expressed doubt that any independent wrestling promoters would want to work with Baron Corbin.

It was reported that Baron CorbinIndi Hartwell, and Tegan Nox have departed from WWE. Regarding Corbin, WWE simply chose not to renew his contract and he will be a free agent once his current contract expires.

While speaking on his YouTube channel, Jim Cornette talked about Baron Corbin’s WWE release and his future in pro wrestling. Cornette thinks Corbin would need a complete career change, maybe even leave wrestling altogether, since it’s tough to start over after 12 years in the business.

Cornette questioned whether Corbin could really make it on the indie scene, wondering if any promoter would even pay him $1,500 or $2,000 per show. Cornette feels that Corbin would struggle to find bookings because there may not be much interest in him outside WWE and made it clear he doubts indie promoters would want to work with him.

“Baron Corbin… we’ll see what happens. Obviously, would he want it? Well, he’s got to reinvent himself now. It’s a little hard, I would think, after 12 years. I think he needs to reinvent himself into a whole new profession instead of wrestling. But, you know, again, if you were an independent promoter… Oh God, I could have Baron Corbin on my show for only, what, $1,500? If he’d go that low? Maybe $2,000? What are the kids making these days when they come out of WWE? How is that going to work? Nobody would want him.”

We have also reported that Baron Corbin’s WWE release came down to the wire and Baron Corbin believes WWE fumbled him as well. Nonetheless, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Baron Corbin, as the world is truly his oyster.
