Jim Ross made a significant return to the commentary table at AEW’s Revolution 2024 pay-per-view, but his focus wasn’t solely on the action in the ring. Instead, Ross addressed a topic that has shaken the wrestling industry to its core: the departure of Vincent Kennedy McMahon from WWE.
McMahon’s exit from WWE in January 2024 came amidst shocking allegations made by Janel Grant in lawsuit. Grant accused McMahon of sexual abuse and trafficking her to other influential figures within the company, with Brock Lesnar allegedly among them. Lesnar’s absence from WWE plans followed, adding another layer of complexity to the situation.
While McMahon vehemently denies the allegations, claiming the lawsuit is filled with fabrications, the fallout has been felt throughout the wrestling world. Former WWE executive John Laurinaitis, also named in the suit, has maintained his innocence, while Lesnar has remained silent on the matter.
Having worked closely with McMahon for decades, Ross didn’t mince words when discussing his former boss’s departure on his Grilling JR podcast. Expressing a mix of exhaustion and frustration, Ross emphasized the impact the situation has had on innocent individuals.
“I’m tired of it. It’s embarrassing in a lot of ways that it’s happened this way. It’s affected a lot of innocent people. That’s my take on it.”
Ross went on to stress the importance of moving forward and leaving McMahon’s alleged actions in the past.
“It’s time to move on. It’s time to move on and cause some rest and peace for some people and it’s time to move on in my opinion.”
With Ross’s return to AEW signaling a new chapter for him in the wrestling world, his words carry weight as the industry grapples with the fallout from McMahon’s departure. As the dust settles, the hope is for healing and progress to prevail.
