Jim Ross has been very impressed with Mercedes Mone in the ring since her debut.

The former WWE star debuted at AEW Dynamite Big Business in March this year. Her first appearance was much hyped, but injury meant she couldn’t step in the ring for the next two months.

This lowered her stock in the company, but she quickly became a fan-favorite after beating Willow for the TBS Championship in her debut match. Since then, Mercedes Mone has gone from strength-to-strength, and looks to be a top star in the making for Tony Khan’s promotion.

She has a huge match against Stephanie Vanquer at Forbidden Door this month. Mercedes Mone could walk out the UBS Arena as TBS and NJPW Strong Women’s Champion, becoming the first double women’s champion in AEW history.

Jim Ross recently spoke to Conrad Thompson on his Grilling JR podcast about Mercedes Mone’s run in AEW so far. The WWE Hall of Famer called her “impressive”, and said she is a “great addition to the roster”.

He admits that it took AEW a while to get Mercedes Mone wrestling into the ring, but she has been better than he expected since debuting.

“She’s been impressive. You know, it took a while to get her in the ring as the creative went along, but she’s— I don’t want to say she’s better than I thought she was, but maybe she is better than I thought she was.” Jim Ross said. “What I’ve seen has been impressive. She’s a very athletic, tough little gal, and she’s got a great look. That was a good hire by Tony. I think she has strengthened the female side of the roster, in my opinion. Unique look, athletic, does a really nice job. So, she’s a great addition to the roster, in my opinion.”
