Jinder Mahal reflects on his tweet exchange with Tony Khan and says he wants to face HOOK.
In January, Tony Khan sparked some buzz with some tweets as he highlighted the double standard of fans’ criticism of HOOK getting a world title shot when Jinder Mahal, who had not had a match on television in months, was challenging Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship on WWE RAW. Mahal responded to the tweets, and the exchange was the talk of the wrestling world. Months later, Mahal is now a free agent, as WWE released him in April.

“Let’s pick one from AEW, HOOK,” Jinder Mahal said. “Let’s pick one from TNA, Josh Alexander. Yeah, those two. HOOK and Josh Alexander… Let’s pick one from New Japan. Gabe Kidd, I like Gabe Kidd. Let’s go — this is a tricky one. Yeah, Gabe Kidd… New Japan also, (Hiroshi) Tanahashi. Big fan of Tanahashi for many years… I do too (believe in Joe Hendry). Joe Hendry, yeah, let’s make it happen.”
Jinder Mahal On HOOK
Jinder Mahal went on to recall his change of tweets with AEW President Tony Khan and said that he started watching HOOK afterward. He spoke highly of the AEW star and said that the exchange was all in good fun.
“Tony (Khan) just said, ‘Where’s the backlash when Jinder’s getting a championship match? When HOOK is 28-0 or 28-1 or something.’ That was the thing and I just said, ‘Who the —- is HOOK?’ That was it…,” Jinder Mahal said. “Yeah, I’m a former WWE Champion (so I should be able to get a title shot). But then I actually started watching HOOK and I really like his style. I like his demeanor, his style, everything about him.
“He’s like the next generation, right? The next generation, the next evolution of pro wrestling. HOOK is one of the best… We’re just having fun on Twitter. It’s just wrestling.”
