The Football Observatory (CIES) unveiled this Wednesday the list of the 50 best chance creators in current world football, via an attendance index. It is calculated on a basis of 100 by adding the frequency of passes leading to a goal or a clear opportunity, passes made towards the decisive passer and passes cutting the opposing defensive line received by a teammate.
Recruited this summer by Paris Saint-Germain from Benfica Lisbon, João Neves has the best absolute score (99.4 out of 100), just ahead of Lionel Messi (Inter Miami – 98.2). Regarding the five major European championships, Cole Palmer (Chelsea – 94.3), Romano Schmid (Werder Bremen – 90.9) and Lamine Yamal (FC Barcelona – 90.3) are behind Neves. As for the ranking of the 60 other championships included in the CIES analysis, two Spaniards accompany Lionel Messi on the podium: Iñigo Vicente (Racing de Santander – 94.4) and Riqui Puig (Los Angeles Galaxy – 94.0).
