Joe Alonzo has revealed why he left the NWA.

The former NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion announced his departure from the company earlier this month. It was a surprising move, especially as he called himself “Mr NWA” and seemed committed to the promotion.

However, Alonzo decided it was now time to bet on himself. The 27-year-old has decided to reject the NWA’s contract offer and leave the company.

Joe Alonzo spoke to MuscleManMalcolm, and was asked why he left the NWA. He revealed that the company did not offer him the contract he wanted, claiming they wanted to lock him down for too long. He just wants to use them as a stepping stone instead.

“Its been kind of on my mind that I knew signing with the NWA when I started that NWA is not the ‘end all be all’. I don’t want to make anybody upset, but it is a stepping stone to get to bigger and better places. So, when I signed with them, I knew that it was only going to be short-lived. They asked me to stay, and what they were offering wasn’t what I was looking for. I asked if they could do better.”

“They offered me something else, but it was a little too long. I don’t have…the one thing that has been said repeatedly over the last few weeks that led to me making this decision was that the one thing money can’t ever buy is time. Nobody is guaranteed time. I just think this is the best decision for me. A lot of people said it was a bad decision, but I think it was a great decision. When you bet on yourself, you can never go wrong. There’s nobody to blame but yourself when things don’t go your way”.
