A video circulating the internet of President Joe Biden wearing a Donald Trump hat at an event on Wednesday (September 11) is not a deep fake. However, it is still being taken dramatically out of context. The 81-year-old Democratic president can be seen standing amid a crowd with a smile on his face while wearing a red hat that is emblazoned with “Trump 2024.” Multiple accounts on X (formerly Twitter) have shared the footage, including the official Trump War Room account. They’re thanking Joe for “supporting” Donald in the election. However, a senior deputy press secretary for the White House revealed what really happened. Keep reading to find out more… On X, Andrew Bates replied to the Trump War Room account, explaining the photo. “At the Shanksville Fire Station, [Joe Biden] spoke about the country’s bipartisan unity after 9/11 and said we needed to get back to that,” he wrote. “As a gesture, he gave a hat to a Trump supporter who then said that in the same spirit, POTUS should put on his Trump cap.
