Joe Biden Challenges Donald Trump To “Make My Day” And Commit To Two Debates As Campaign Proposes June And September Events

Joe Biden challenged Donald Trump to debate in a new, taunting video this morning, in which the president said to his rival, “Well, make my day pal. I’ll even doing it twice. So let’s pick the dates, Donald.”

Then, Biden said, “I hear you are free on Wednesdays.” That was a swipe at Trump’s criminal trial in New York, which is dark on that day.

Meanwhile, the Biden campaign has sent a letter to the Commission on Presidential Debates, announcing that the president would not be participating in the organization’s planned dates this fall and instead would be taking part in events hosted by news organizations.

Trump’s campaign has said that he would debate Biden “anytime” and “anywhere.”

Biden’s video and his campaign letter are a signal that the 36-year-old structure that has been in place to hold general election debates is about to crumble. The bipartisan commission has held the debates each cycle since 1988, but Trump in recent elections has attacked its members and its choices of moderators.

Donald Trump lost two debates to me in 2020. Since then, he hasn’t shown up for a debate.

Now he’s acting like he wants to debate me again.

Well, make my day, pal. pic.twitter.com/AkPmvs2q4u
