Joey Chestnut to Rematch Takeru Kobayashi In Netflix Hot Dog Eating Contest After Nathan's Hot Dog Ban

Netflix just announced some big live sporting news – Chestnut vs Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef!

Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi will go up against each other once again in an upcoming hot dog eating competition, their first time since 2009.

The news comes just a day after it was revealed that Joey was banned from this year’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest due to a conflict of interest, as he is reportedly representing a rival brand for the Netflix contest.

“Through all of my years in competitive eating, Kobayashi stands out as my fiercest rival,” Joey shared in a statement. “Competing against him pushed me to be so much better. I know that fans have waited a long time for another chapter of our rivalry and I can’t wait for our massive showdown live on Netflix! It’s time to give the people what they want!”

“Retiring for me will only happen after I take him down one last time,” Takeru added, speaking to the rumors of his retirement. “This rivalry has been brewing for a long time. Competing against Joey live on Netflix means fans all over the world can watch me knock him out.”

As previously mentioned, Joey and Takeru have not gone up against each other in 15 years, after Joey defeated Takeru in a five hot dog sudden death eat off.

Joey has won the Nathan’s contest for the past eight years, while Takeru is also a six-time champ.

Chestnut vs Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef is set to air live on Monday, September 2nd on Netflix!
