John Cena might be retiring as an active pro wrestler at the end of 2025, but he’s been preparing for this moment for quite some time.
WWE Superstar John Cena recently spoke with Denise Salcedo on the red carpet premiere of Jackpot. When asked how he’s been preparing mentally for his in-ring retirement from WWE, Cena admitted he’s been preparing for a while.
“That’s a great question. It’s something I’ve been preparing for for a long time,” John Cena admitted. “If you backtrack interviews, I started talking about that in maybe 2019 so I’m ready for it. And I think now is the perfect time to do it. I have a little bit of time in 2025 and the WWE has been awesome, working with schedules and everything.
“They thought it was a great idea, so they kind of ran with the idea. We expanded it to a year, 36 dates. I feel great. It’s a happy thing. I’m not going to tell anyone how to feel, because I don’t believe in that, but I am going to approach it with an upbeat attitude.”
