John Lithgow Reveals If He's Appearing in 'Shrek 5' & What He Thinks About Returning to Franchise

Shrek star John Lithgow weighed in on the possibility of appearing in Shrek 5.

The 79-year-old actor voiced Lord Farquaad in the 2001 animated movie. If you forgot, his character, the movie’s main villain, met a tragic ending when he was eaten by a dragon.

With news that a fifth movie in the franchise is officially in development with multiple stars set to reprise their roles, John revealed if the ruler of Duloc was rising from the dead.

Speaking to People, John made it clear that he was very interested in coming back. He said that he would “say yes in a minute” if the offer came through. However, he’s not all that optimistic.

“It turns out it’s impossible to recover from being eaten by a dragon,” he joked. John said that “they haven’t approached [him]” about joining the movie.

“I know nothing about it and no, I’m not a part of it,” he reiterated.
