John Stones has hailed Marc Guehi’s impact for England at Euro 2024 as the Crystal Palace defender continues to be linked with some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League.

Guehi has started alongside Stones in Germany, forming a solid centre-back partnership and allaying fears England’s defence could be vulnerable following Harry Maguire’s injury setback.

The 23-year-old only had 11 caps prior to the start of the Euros but has looked every inch an England player despite the team’s general struggles.

Guehi has been linked with Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United in recent weeks and is doing his hopes of a big summer move no harm with his performances in Germany.

Asked to rate Guehi’s start to the Euros, Manchester City star Stones told BBC Radio 5 Live: ‘So good, so good.

‘For him to come in, not having felt the feelings around tournament football before or these kind of games, all kinds of different emotions that come with it that you’ve never experienced before. He’s handled [it] so well, his performances have been great.

‘I said to him when we’re in this, or whoever’s playing or whoever I’m playing with, I’m your right arm, you are my left. We do this together. I’ve got your back and he’s bought into that so well.

‘I believe massively in partnerships and that you do it all together and I feel that he’s handled the occasion so well and I really enjoy playing with him.’

Guehi helped England keep a clean sheet in their tournament opener against Serbia and was one of the few players to earn praise following the deflating 1-1 draw with Denmark.

Despite flattering to deceive in Germany, England sit top of Group C ahead of their final group game against Slovenia on Tuesday night.
