‘El Idolo’ Andrade is one of the top stars in WWE right now. He is a former NXT Champion and is also the current WWE Speed Champion. A few years ago, Andrade was released from the company and then El Idolo went on to compete in Lucha Libre AAA and AEW.

Andrade made a surprise return to WWE at the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match. Recently, DIY’s Johnny Gargano shared his thoughts on Andrade.

While speaking on the Media Scrum ahead of the SummerSlam PLE, Johnny Gargano mentioned that one of his favorite matches of his career was the one he had against Andrade for the NXT World Championship at NXT: Takeover Philadelphia. He also is happy to see Andrade back and he hopes to square up with him once again.

Johnny Gargano on Andrade’s recent success

“When anyone asks me what my favorite match I’ve had in my career is, I always say I hate all my own matches,” Gargano began. “But if I had to pick three, it’d be my match with Tommaso [Ciampa], my match with Adam Cole in New York, and then my match with Andrade in Takeover: Philadelphia. I think my match with Andrade at Takeover: Philadephia was really the start of a run of just an unbelievable run of Takeovers for me.

“I was very lucky to be in the ring with some amazing talent. And Andrade and me just… I feel like me and Tommaso, we are wrestling soulmates. But me and Andrade are also made to wrestle one another. And I am very pumped to see his success now. Very pumped to see him back. And who knows, maybe you’ll get another round of Johnny Gargano and Andrade one day,” Johnny Gargano said.
