Johnny Gargano says he and Tommaso Ciampa aren’t just happy being the champions. According to Gargano, they want to elevate the division.
On the July 5th episode of WWE SmackDown, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa beat A-Town Down Under to win the WWE Tag Team Championship. This marked their first title win on the main roster.
Speaking with Phil Strum on Under The Ring, Johnny Gargano discussed DIY’s goal as WWE Tag Team Champions. He made it clear that they want to elevate the division.
“Being WWE Tag Team Champions, there’s so much lineage in those titles,” Johnny Gargano said. “I grew up dreaming of holding those titles. Now the fact that me and I’d say probably my best friend Tommaso Ciampa get a chance to hold those titles, we aren’t just happy being champions. We want to take the tag team division to new heights, we believe in tag team wrestling. We believe in the tag team division, and we firmly do believe, as champions, we can take this thing to a whole ‘nother level if we get the opportunity.
