The Rock returned earlier this month on Friday Night SmackDown and temporarily took Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania 40 spot, but that has changed now as The Rock is a full-blown heel. In light of this, Jonathan Coachman has commented on The Rock’s WWE return.
Since his return to WWE last month, The Rock has been a hot topic in the wrestling world. Jonathan Coachman, the former WWE RAW commentator, shared his thoughts on The Rock’s comeback during an appearance on Busted Open Radio.
“I hope that The Rock is back and is gonna show up many times.”
Coachman then elaborated that he believed Johnson would inspire performers to approach their work more seriously. This reference stemmed from remarks made by The Undertaker about the backstage environment being calmer under the leadership of Triple H. Coachman acknowledged The Undertaker’s positive perspective on the change.
Coachman also shared his belief that Johnson is playing the long game for significant box office numbers. Despite his current heel persona, the former WWE commentator asserted that a well-executed face turn would greatly benefit The Rock as a draw.
“A lot of guys hesitate to go full-blown heel because it affects their merchandise sales,” Coachman continued. “However, if you can be a really cool heel, like The Rock, then you can turn it around no matter how you do it. I hope that young kids are looking at that and saying, ‘This is what I can be.'”
Ringside News also exclusively reported that multiple key figures were involved in The Rock’s promo segment. It remains to be seen how WWE will continue to book The Bloodline storyline as we slowly approach WrestleMania 40.
