Thanks to a hat-trick from Jonathan David, Lille quietly dominated Le Havre this Saturday and climbed onto the Ligue 1 podium.

Lille had the ambition to resume its march forward against Le Havre after its defeat in Paris which knocked it off the podium. There was no real suspense at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy as Paulo Fonseca’s men dominated their opponent.

David sees triple

Shortly before the quarter of an hour of play, Jonathan David confirmed his return to form by opening the score before doubling the lead on a serve from Angel Gomes just before the break. At the very start of the second half, Arthur Desmas thought he was keeping his team afloat by repelling David’s penalty, but the Canadian saw the ball come back to him and was quick to score his first hat-trick and his 11th goal of the season. (3-0, 49th)

Thanks to this very quiet success (3-0), LOSC temporarily climbs onto the podium and puts pressure on Monaco, Brest and Lens. For their part, Le Havre is still in 12th place and can see the teams at the bottom of the table getting closer.
