Jordan Henderson is reportedly close to completing a shock move to Ligue 1 giants Monaco.

England international Henderson joined Ajax last year after a short and unhappy stint at Saudi Pro League club Al Ettifaq.

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the former Liverpool captain is set to sign a deal with the Principality club until 2026.

His new venture will see him link up with former Liverpool teammate Takumi Minamino, who spent two seasons at Anfield alongside Henderson.

Reds legend Henderson could also be set for an emotional reunion with Liverpool in the Champions League.

Monaco have progressed to the play-off phase, where they will face PSG, Brest or Benfica - and the winner will be rewarded with a last-16 clash against Liverpool or Barcelona.
