Jorge Ramos is saying goodbye to Univision‘s evening news program after nearly 40 years on the air. The 66-year-old journalist and writer will remain at the network through the presidential election and leave some time in December, via Variety. “This is not a farewell. I will continue anchoring Noticiero Univision until December, and afterwards I will share my professional plan,” he said in a note to coworkers on Monday (September 9). Keep reading to find out more… “I am deeply grateful for these four decades at Univision and very proud to be part of a team that has established strong leadership over the years.” Noticias Univision adds in a statement that both the anchor and the company “have mutually agreed not to renew their soon-to-expire contract agreement.” “I want to express my respect and gratitude for Jorge Ramos and all he has done for Univision and the growing community we serve each and every day,” president of the network’s news division Daniel Coronell said in a statement. “As we look to 2025 and beyond, our talented team is well equipped to continue the tradition of journalistic excellence that has defined Noticiero Univision since the beginning.” He has served as co-anchor for Noticiero Univision since 1987, and has been dubbed “The Walter Cronkite of Latin America.”
