And the legendary boss has reportedly set his sights on one of the game's biggest gigs, where he would look to add to his two Champions League winners' medals.

According to German newspaper Bild, the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager is learning German in a bid to take the reigns at Bayern Munich.

Fellow Champions League winner Thomas Tuchel is currently in charge at the Bundesliga champions, but has faced mounting pressure with his side trailing league leaders Bayer Leverkusen by five points.

After losing 3-0 in their top-of-the-table clash with Leverkusen, Bild reports that Mourinho 'would be ready' to step in at the Bavarian club and could be reunited with Harry Kane, who he managed at Tottenham.

This is not the first time the Portuguese maverick has been said to be interested in taking on Germany's top-flight, where he is yet to manage.

In 2019, he was quoted in Gazzetta dello Sport as saying: "Right now, I am studying German. Bundesliga? Now, I'm studying German because I miss the language."

"But I do not exclude anything, not even Germany."

With Mourinho then refusing to rule out a move to the six-time European Champions, all recent updates on the iconic figure appear to suggest he would be strongly interested in the Bayern position.

Following his shock sacking by Roma, the Special One was reported to be targeting an instant comeback, with talks with Napoli seemingly on the cards.

Though a move did not ultimately materialise, he was then tipped to take over at Saudi Pro League outfit Al Shabab, before rejecting the approach as he waited for 'an option that motivates him.'

Having shown no signs of seeking a role away the spotlight, and the latest news of him sharpening his language skills, the Bayern Munich job may be exactly the opportunity that captures Mourinho's focus.

He will have to bide his time if he is to favour a first crack at the Bundesliga, with Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen maintaining to Bild that 'nothing changes' regarding Tuchel's position in charge.
